Story
Hi There
One of the lessons in my Parsha is about the importance of communication. I have been shocked to learn over recent times of the differences in literacy between indigenous and non-indigenous Australians and also that so many important indigenous languages are dying out.
Language and literacy is so important to both individual success and to the success of a society and I am lucky enough to have access to great education and to have a love of reading and books, I would like to work to bridge this gap in opportunity and to preserve the language and culture of the indigenous communities.
In celebration of my Bar Mitzvah, I would truly appreciate a donation to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation in lieu of gifts.

Indigenous Literacy Foundation
Being able to read opens so many doors. But in very remote Indigenous communities, books are all too scarce and literacy levels are much lower than anywhere else in Australia. Our purpose is to make a difference to the lives of Indigenous families by not only gifting thousands of new culturally appropriate books - with a focus on early literacy and first language - but also by running programs to inspire the communities to tell and publish their own stories.
